Our ISP has two routers onsite. The primary router has a 40MB connection to the Internet and the secondary router as a 20MB connection to the Internet. I am configuring our two 6509's with a FWSM in each so that the MSFC is inside and the FW is facing the ISP routers.
Question: Can I setup HSRP between the FW and the ISP routers?
I have attached a diagram showing the connection between the ISP and the 6509.
Thanks

Hello,
HSRP is a redundancy mechanism between two routers. HSRP cannot be configured between a router and the FWSM.
The FWSM can be configured with failover for redundancy purposes.
Hope this helps.

Allen,
I have updated the drawing to show the change between the FW and the IPS routers. If we are unable to do HSRP at the FW level, then I will have to contact the ISP and have them change the /29 to a /30 and assign the IP's accordingly. We own the entire /28 range. Once they make the change then there would be two seperate paths in and two seperate paths out. Wouldn't this be a problem possibly causing routing loops?
