Gratuitous ARP from PIX

Hello,

We observed PIX firewall constantly sends out gratuitous ARP for its own IP address every 5 seconds.Is it normal?If so,what's the purpose?

BTW,we have a pair of PIX .

It seems to be the normal activity, this is part of Interface testing when the failover is configured. Are you running the PIX firewalls in the failover? Check the below link. Hope this helps
