Hi
We have this Cisco IDS-4215-K9 in our company, it wasn't in use for quite a long time . But, our company thought of using this IDS recently, the problem is that we don't remember the USERNAME and PASSWORD for this , so we can't log into it . Also, we want to upgrade the Image on this IDS to the latest one but the same problem of unavailability of Login Credentials is cropping up .
Any idea on how do we recover the Username & Password or is there any other way around this to perform the above functions ? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated .

Since the IPS4215 has not been used for a while, I would recommend that you perform the system reimage to the latest version of software. The latest version that can be installed on IPS 4215 is version 6.0.6(E4).
Here is the procedure to perform system reimage:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ips/6.0/configuration/guide/cli/cliImage.html#wp1030874
However, please kindly be advised that IPS 4215 has reached EOL and here is the EOL notification for your reference:
Hope that helps.

Hi Jennifer
Thanks for your valuable reply . But, can you tell me if this procedure works without knowing the Login details ?
FYI the Model No. is IDS-4215-K9 ?

To reimage the IPS, you do not need login credential. It will wipe out all the configuration, and you would need to configure the basic network configuration which is just through running the "setup" command.
Pls check the reimage URL provided earlier.
