I'm trying to restore the configuration of our 506E into a 501 - to make a backup recovery. Both have PIX 6.3(4) and PDM 3.0(2). Here's what i tried:
(506E PDM)
Save running config to TFTP server
(501 CLI)
configure factory-default (ip / netmask)
write mem
reboot
(501 CLI)
configure net (tftp server & file of the 506E that I edited manually to change IP Adresses not to interfere with the running 506E)
DAMMIT IT WORKS! I tried 3-4 times before and I had numerous errors!
SO THE QUESTION IS :::
Am I correct to use this procedure to replace the 506E with a spare 501 in case of failure ? (Any problems that can arise with that way?)
