I bought an ASA 5520 to practice with a small physical lab. However, on startup its not booting. My best guess is that it's original owner erased/wiped if for resale. Below is the putty output; any help in getting it up and running would be great.
Thank you much!

If you have or had a support contract then you are entitled to download the software here:
https://software.cisco.com/download/home/279916878/type/280775065/release/9.1.7%20Interim
However the ASA 5520 was not sold by Cisco since 2013 and new support contracts have not been available for the ASA 5520 since 2014. Existing support contracts could only be extended into 2018:
If you have access to download ASA software from the above link the system will not prevent you from doing so for models that you don't have a contract for. However you are violating the terms of service for the site if you do so.
The EULA you are required to agree to before downloading any Cisco software states (among other things) the following:
Subject to Your purchase of a license to the Software from an Approved Source and compliance with this EULA, Cisco grants You a non-exclusive and non-transferable (other than as set forth in the Cisco Software Transfer and Re-Use Policy) license to use the Software and related Documentation for Your internal use in accordance with and for the term (if any) specified in any applicable Order, Entitlement and supplemental terms. If Your use of the Software exceeds Your Entitlement, You will pay for Your excess use as required.

If you have the licensed software, you can copy the image onto disk0:/ and then the ASA will be able to boot it.

Unfortunately there's no legitimate way to obtain an image for this long-past end of life appliance.
Cisco makes the ASAv (VM image) with 100 kbps limited throughput lab license available at no cost. It can be challenging to obtain if you're not an existing ASA customer; but if your company has a Cisco or partner SE they can get you a copy of that.

Maybe I’m wrong but the software is available for download via support > downloads > security > 5000 series > chase software
the problem, is that I’m completely new to ASA/Firewalls so I’m completely at a loss.
You should have seen me trying to googling commands for the dir function on an ASA... lol
