Hi Everyone,
On ASA version 8.2(5)57 i see 3 types of NAT config
one is say
1>static (dmz,outside) 142.x.x.x 142.x.x.x netmask 255.255.255.255
where public IP is same
2>static (zonea,inside) 10.50.2.3 10.50.2.3 netmask 255.255.255.255
3>static (zoneb,outside) 140.x.x.x 192.168.50.3 netmask 255.255.255.255
Need to confirm above 3 are which types of static nat?

MAhesh

Hi
1 and 2 are identity NAT.
3 is doing a static NAT for 192.168.50.3 to 140.x.x.x

Hi Mahesh,
You are correct.
Identity NAT—A real address is statically translated to itself, essentially bypassing NAT.

Hi Henrik,
For identity NAT is user is coming from source interface say DMZ going to outside and if source IP
is 10.x.x.x and it is trying to reach destination IP say 3.3.3.3.3 then source IP will remain same right?

MAhesh
