Is there any update on when this will be released?

Yes mid June. It's still in QA.

Do you know what the minimum system requirements will be? Do you have to pay for this upgrade or is it free?

Has this been released yet? Where can we find it? What version is it?

Yep, was released on the 30th June, available here:
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/mgmt-ctr-ids-app
Now called the IPS Management Center, v2.1. Make sure you install the patch (available on the same URL) straight after installation.

Thanks for the info on the release. Now that I have upgraded the IDSMC to IPSMC 2.1, is there a release to upgrade the sensors from 4.1 to 5.0 through the MC or do I have to upgrade each sensor individually via the update command?

Sure there is. The upgrade from 4.1 to 5.0 is a LOT easier than the upgrade from 3.x to 4.x.
All the software you need is here:
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/mgmt-ctr-ids
Click on the "Latest Service Pack, Minor, and Major Updates" link under v5 and install the 5.0(1)S149 major update package first. Then install the 5.0(3) service pack. Then go back to the URL above, click on the "Latest Signature Update" link and install the S179 sig update.
Note that service packs and signature updates are now separate installations. Previously service packs have been included with specific signature updates, but that is not going to be the case anymore. It's now possible to be running say, 5.0(1)S179 or be running 5.0(3)S179. Signature updates can be applied to sensors running any v5.0 service pack release, doesn't matter anymore. You need to periodically check the servie pack link above to update your sensors accordingly. New service packs will be announced in the regular Update Bulletins as well.
