IPS 4255 and VMS 2.3 compatibility

Does the IPS 4255 ship with the latest IPS 5.0 software??

Is the IPS 5.0 software supported by VMS 2.3 (ie, the IDSMC 2.0.1 component and Security Monitor 2.0.1 component??

Hi -

The IPS sensors were to begin shipping from manufacturing with 5.x in late March.

Support for IPS 5.0 in VMS will be in the May/June timeframe when IDS MC 2.1 is released.

If you receive a sensor with 5.0, you can use IDM to manage the sensor and use the basic monitoring capabilities.

If you need to reimage the sensor to 4.x, check the box for a 4.x disk. If it doesn't come with one, TAC can provide you the location to the image to re-image it to 4.x.

The IPS-4255 has not begun shipping with 5.0 software yet. Currently, Recovery CDs (for older appliances) and other collateral are being updated to include 5.0 information. New systems should begin shipping with IPS 5.0 software in early May. Even then, the software version will be configurable between 4.1 and 5.0 when ordering, at least until VMS is updated to support the new IPS software.
