Issue with new FP4140 device

Hello guy,

We received 1 week ago, 2 FP4140 devices in order to replace old ASA5585 active/standby pair.

After migration, we saw some "random failover" between primary and secondary. Our investigation showed that one of the FP4140 had lot of failure logs related to security module, which led to crash of ASA for sure.

It keeps continuing, I tried hard reboot on the whole device. Tried reimaging my ASA logical devices. I also tried restarting only the security module.  There is no improvment and what I noticed, when my asa is logically shutdown, my security module continuing crashing. I saw that we can do some reinitialization and decommission. Would it help ?

I'm afraid that it is hardware related, because we had some delay on shipment due to covid19 crisis. I don't want to go with the second FP4140 device as standalone device in production.

It sounds quite a bit like it may indeed be hardware. Only via opening a TAC case will you know for sure. Better to get that going right away vs. wait more days.

Before doing a TAC and possibly RMA, I woud suggest upgrading both FXOS and ASA to latest Cisco recommended release.  This could be a bug.
