It depends what you consider a "journal". If you mean a scholarly journal such as IEEE Communications Society Proceedings, then I doubt you will find any.
Published non-vendor coverage of network equipment is usually via the trade press, which is mostly online publication these days. For instance, search in Google for "Network World ASA" and the first six results I see just now are Network World articles. Similarly "Information Week Cisco ASA" returns several articles from there.
There are also numerous blog entries regarding ASAs. See for instance:
