License Requirements ASA 5520 when implementing Active\Standby Failover

We have an existing ASA 5520 with the CSM module for A/V, SPAM, Content Filtering. We have the Base and PLUS license. In addiion we have a 1000 User WebVPN license. My question is do I need to duplicate all the licenses on the Standby unit or just some. If just some which ones?

Hi Jim,

It should not cause an issue, but if on one device you have 1000 user license and on the other you have 500 user license, then if 1000 users CSC goes down, then only 500 would be able to access, so to avoid such complications, same license is recommended.

Would you know if I need to duplicate the SSM-CSC licenses. The base and PLUS license. The bas get you (A\V, Spyware, File Blocking. the PLUS gets you (SPAM, Phishing, Content Filtering, URl blocking\Filtering)

Hi Jim,

you should not require the same license on the CSC module, but again, if on one module you have URL filtering but not on second, then after failover on the second module you would not have filtering working, so recommended is same license.
