Licensed features issues

Hi, I have a PIX-525 with the following

Licensed features:

Failover: Enabled

VPN-DES: Disabled

VPN-3DES: Disabled

Maximum Interfaces: 8

Cut-through Proxy: Enabled

Guards: Enabled

Websense: Enabled

Throughput: Unlimited

ISAKMP peers: Unlimited

And I need Enable the DES or 3DES license for using the PDM (Pix Device Manager) My question IS:

If I install the new activation Key from the "FREE Register for PIX 56-bit IPSEC Software Feature Key" Im gonna loose my current features licenced?

Do I need to request for a new activation key from the TAC for this operation?

No you will not, all you have to do is reflash to 6.1 in monitor mode (at the console) and put in the DES key upon reboot (thats why you need to be console).

You will also need to flash:pdm when you are done. But you can do that after your up.

Make sure you have smartnet for the IOS upgrade though as they are not free =)

If you have 3 or more interfaces then you have to request your free DES key from Cisco. Do a show ver command on both PIX's (Active and Standby unit) and provide Cisco with the serial number for both units. They will then send you a new key for both units that will add DES and key your existing features.
