Migrating from ASA 5510 to ASA 5525 X

Hello, have read a number of "how-to-do-guides" but.... still not 100% sure if the migration will work.

Background:

We have a customer that currently have 2 ASA 5510 (active/active mode), they only use their ASA`s for Anyconnect client. Nothing more. OS is 9.1(5). They want to migrate from ASA 5510 to 5525 X. Also they are using a public certificate (wildcard cert), one connection to the outside and one to the inside network.

The 5525 X is shipped with 9.2(2).

Question: after running a complete backup on their old ASA`s and editing the configuration file (from Ethernet to gigabitethernet), are there anything else that I should be aware of?

Any input is most appreciated.

Michael

Hi Michael,

You are correct there is not much to change in the configuration other than interface configuration.

You can try this command:-

more system:running-config and this will PSK's in clear text and manually copy it to the new ASA

You can refer the below document as well for more information,

Thanks,

Thanks for your feedback Shivapramod. Our client is a major university, so better safe than sorry so to speak.
