Hi,
As far as I know the is no officially supported method to migrate to another FMC, apart from exporting/importing the various policies etc. I've found the easiest way is to take a backup off your old FMC and convert it to work on the FMC model by using the undocumented command listed below. This involves using another virtual FMC as a mid-way staging ground.
The high-level steps are:
- Create a VM at the same version as the old FMC
- Adjust the VM to pretend that it is the same model as the old FMC*
- Backup the config from the old FMC and restore it into the VM
- Adjust the VM to pretend that it is the same model as the new FMC*
- Backup the config from the VM and restore it into the new FMC.
* Command to allow the virtual FMC to “pretend” to be another device is: “su /var/sf/etc/model-info/configure-model.sh”
When run, you will see a menu allowing you to select the model you want to mimic.
Not the most elegant of procedures but it may help until Cisco get it supported natively.
