Greets
What is the official Cisco position on applying Microsoft patches to Cisoworks servers running Windows 2000? Our server team wants to patch these servers regularly but we are concerned about the stability of the ciscoworks platform being patched regularly
Does Cisco test these patches and publish the results/recommendations?
What support does Cisco offer its customers who opt to patch their servers regularly?
thanks

You are probably posting in the wrong thread. Anyway, you should only apply the patches that Cisco has tested. The patches that MS puts out can and normally do break cisco software packages.

Thanks for your feedback. Im posting here because our cw2k servers are MCs for CSA and IDS
I opened a Cisco TAC and they indicated that MS patches *should be* ok unless there is an associated field notice.
Our experience has been otherwise which is probably why no one from Cisco has responded here. All holding their breath hoping this question will age out LOL
Its a "do at your own risk" proposition obviously which is disappointing as you would expect greater collaboration between Cisco and MS.
MS uses their broad customer base as guinea pigs...and hopefully Cisco will learn from their mistakes.
We are patching and holding our breath...Ill post results for benefit of experience.
Good luck
