My gre tunnel through pix has intermitent pings????

I set up a gre tunnel from a router outside the firewall to one behind the firewall. When I ping from one side to the other the pings go through for a little bit then stop for a couple seconds, then start again. I can give more info if anybody wants it. Thanks in advance.

I think that the failed pings might be due to packet loss. Please check if you have CEF and tunnel checksum enabled. If that is true, then packed loss is most certainly the cause. I remember reading somewhere that high packet loss is observed when both CEF and tunnel checksum are enabled. You could turn off one of the two and things should work just fine.
