Hi all,
I was involved in software currency and have to make sure all the Cisco devices (Routers/Switches) which are running IOS or IOS-XE software should be upgraded to latest software versions.
Is there any way I can verify if a software version is correct to upgrade an IOS for a switch or a router other than involving Cisco support team?
Regards
Kris

Read the Release Notes.
Release Notes will details what model can support the IOS file.

You can also run the free Cisco Network Assistant tool to help you inventory your Cisco hardware and software to check for outdated releases.

Try a combination Cisco Active Advisor (https://ciscoactiveadvisor.com) and Cisco IOS software checker (https://tools.cisco.com/security/center/softwarechecker.x). First tool should be able to inventory your devices and versions. Second tool should be able to tell you which version you can go to for a particular platform which has most of the vulnerabilities fixed. But take both results with a pinch of salt. As @Leo Laohoo mentioned, release notes should give you a complete picture of what version you can upgrade to from your current release.
