New Gig card upgrade fails PIX 535 communication !!

Hello,

over the weekend, I again tried to upgrade our 535 firewall's dmz interface from Ethernet to Gigabit Ethernet, however, for as long as i have 4 Gigabit Ethernet cards inserted I cannot establish connectivity with the rest of my network.

In order to use the last 66MHz slot, i moved the VAC+ card from slot 0 to slot 8, then inserted the new GE card into slot 0. All interfaces show "up and up", but cannot ping any other device, nor can they ping the PIX.

Tried moving the VAC+ to slot 4, but that made no difference.

On a previous attempt, we completely removed the VAC+ card, and all communication failed, so we thought maybe the VAC+ card should remain in, but since we dont use it, we moved it to a 33MHZ slot this time. No difference. Still no communication.

Am running UR license on one firewall, and FO license on another firewall. Currently have 3 GE cards and 2 FE cards.

What is preventing the PIX from communicating once the new GE card is inserted.

The 535 only has 4 x 66MHz slots, so with all of them occupied by the GE cards, i moved the VAC+ to a 33 MHZ slot.

I dont use the PIX for any VPN terminations, so dont really need the functionality of the VAC+ card, so moved it out of the last 66MHz slot it was occupying to create space for the new Gig card.

Unfortunately, that didnt work.
