Password Reset of PIX 501

I have a PIX 501 with a forgotten password running version 4.3.2. I have downloaded the nppix.bin file for version 4.3 and earlier onto a TFTP server and followed the instructions for the password reset.

Everything goes fine and it downloads the file, however, after it says how many bytes it downloaded, it just hangs at that prompt and never does anything else. I have tried the TFTP from two different servers and downloaded new copies the bin file serveral different times with the same results. Any help would be appreciated. The output from HyperTerm is listed below: Thanks!

monitor> server 10.1.1.1

server 10.1.1.1

monitor> address 10.1.1.2

address 10.1.1.2

monitor> ping 10.1.1.1

Sending 5, 100-byte 0xf36a ICMP Echoes to 10.1.1.1, timeout is 30 seconds:

Success rate is 100 percent (5/5)

monitor> file np.bin

The PIX-501 does not support software version 4.3, so either you're actually running 6.3(2) (in which case download np63.bin from here http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/110/34.shtml#pix_without), and try again, or you're not running a 501, in which case I don't know what the problem is.

Thanks for responding. I appreciate the help. I see the following text which comes when the router boots that caused me to think its 4.3.2. The router boot is below:

Thanks,

We figured it out.. Turns out I was looking at the BIOS Firmare version and not the OS version. It was actually running 6.1. Thanks, Dan.
