Hello,
I would like to know if NAT on the PIX501 can support up to 253 users without any problems. I know it does in theory and it also performs up to 3500 concurrent connections. If you are currently using PIX501 on an environment with approximately 200+ computers or users and are all using the pix for internet access, please provide some feedback.
I am experiencing a great deal of trouble with my existing linksys dsl/router device and would like to consider pix501 as a replacement. but, before i do so, i would like to learn of its performance.
Thanks,

You might want to take a closer look at the data sheet on the PIX 501 in particular in the licensing section
"10-user license supports up to 10 concurrent source IP addresses from your internal network to traverse through the PIX "
You may want to look at a different PIX model to find a solution meeting your requirements

Thomas,
I understand that you can upgrade the license to support more users and this is not my concern.
I just want to learn that PIX501 can support more than 200+ users reliably.

The 501 will only support up to a maximum of 50 users, so no, this is not the device for you (see http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/fw/sqfw500/prodlit/px501_ds.htm).
If you want 200+ users, then you'll want to go to at least a 506E (http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/fw/sqfw500/prodlit/p506e_ds.htm), but depending on how much traffic you're envisaging maybe even a 515E (http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/fw/sqfw500/prodlit/p515e_ds.htm)
