I would like to add a PIX 501 Firewall to our existing network. Currently our ISP has provided a 1720 router that has a static IP address. That router is then connected to an HP Procurve switch. We already have a DHCP server in place that is providing private IP addresses to the devices on our network. Do I place the firewall between the router and the switches and disable the DHCP server on the firewall?

Yes, that is basically the gist of what will occur. Will you be using legitimate ip addresses on the external interface of the PIX?

Yes. My ISP gave me an IP address, a Subnet mask & a Gateway IP address to use. Does the internal IP address need to be changed to a static IP address from my private network range?
