Check if PC-java version is supported by PDM.

as mpalardy said, first you should check that your browser fullfill the java requirements.
then if you have a certificate error, you should check the date and time on the pc accessing the PDM and on the pix, they should be the same.

A combination of tftp server from 3com wich I downloaded free and upgrading the pix 501 to version 6.3.5 and the pdm version to 3.0.4 and the lates java version, I am now a happy camper, everithing work perfec and restored acces to PDM.
Make sure that the updates you download from cisco wish are pdm-304.bin and pix635.bin are copied to the tftp foulder named tftpboot in under the program file\3com
