1. Create PIX Boot helper disk.
Do the following to create Boot helper floppy disk.
(You will need a 3.5 formatted floppy diskette).
For UNIX systems, create the disk using the following command
dd bs=18k /dev/rfd0
For PC systems, use the rawrite.exe utility
Place the following files in the same folder on laptop computer
(bh52.bin;Rawrite.exe).
Double click Rawrite file to execute the file.
Enter source file name: = bh52.bin
destination drive: = a:
2. Setup TFTP server on your laptop PC
3. Assign IP address for your laptop (172.26.13.2)
4. Store PIX IOS image file (pix523.bin) into TFTP root directory.
5. Use a RJ-45 cross cable for your laptop and PIX connection directly.
6. Before Upgrade PIX IOS, check current PIX activation key and license
use "sh ver" command on PIX firewall.
7. Insert PIX Boot Disk into PIX floppy drive.
8. Power on or boot PIX.
9. Confirm loaded PIX IOS version.

10. Choose "interface 0" for activating PIX FE interface
(this can be 0-5)
