Hi
I have got a PIX 520 that I cannot seem to get working.
The following message is displayed. Any ideas what the cause could be.
Cisco Secure PIX Firewall Version 5.3(2)
open(ffsdev/2/read) failed
An internal error occurred. Specifically, a programming assertion was
violated. Copy the error message exactly as it appears, and get the
output of the show version command and the contents of the configuration
file. Then call your technical support representative.

Hi,
I found that it only happens
when the option Rom is netboot rom, and try to run the boothelper in the floppy.
In order to do this, need to remove the jumper in the flash card, then the pix
bypass the option rom and use the standard procedure to boot from floppy.
Since the jumper in flash card is removed, the boothelper can not detect the
biosflash(option rom), it assumes that this is am28f256 which is obsolete
rom, and returns error. Cause the fdf_init(). asserion.
hope it helps.
Thx
Afaq

Hi,
I have a "PIX Firewall" and i receive the same errors when i attempt to boot of the boothelper disk.
Do i need to change any jumpers on my pix flash card? or should i be looking at anything else?
Thanks
