CLT

inspect esmtp - default = enabled for 7.2 and 8.0

Master Command Reference Document = disabled for 7.2 and 8.0

Anyone in production that can verify which one is indeed correct.

Sushi,

Cisco Security Appliance Command Reference

For the Cisco ASA 5500 Series and Cisco PIX 500 series.

Software version 8.0(4) - revision number different

Just looked at it again disabled by default.

Cisco Security Appliance Command Reference

For the Cisco ASA 5500 Series and Cisco PIX 500 series.

Software version 7.2(2)

Just looked at it again disabled by default.

I got these logged in via cco account.

PDF books.

Would you like me to email them to you.

For hands on verification.

Sushi,

If you look at the html content i.e. Command Refs for

these yes it shows inspect esmtp as being enabled by default

and the Command Lookup Tool states as such.

If you actually download the .pdf command reference books

for 8.0, 8.0(4) and 7.2(2) you will see that these indeed show

inspect esmtp as being disabled by default.

I can test this via PEMU (emulation) at best.

But it would be nice if someone in production can vouch

one way or another as to what is truly correct.

If not I will escalate the matter through formal Cisco

channels to have the documentation and support content

changed.

Regards.
