The release notes for PIX OS 7.0.1 state:
"PIX Version 7.0 runs on PIX 515/515E, PIX 525, and PIX 535, but is not supported on the PIX 501 or PIX 506/506E platforms at this time."
Does this mean it can be installed but is not supported by Cisco or it just won't work. If it can be installed on a 501 I would be quite happy to play around with this (test environment only) but if it's likely to screw up my 501 then I won't bother and I'll wait and see if 7.0.2(?) can be installed.
Thanks

Andy,
During the web meeting on 7.0 I remember being told that 7.0 may support the 501/506 later this year. The issue is that 7.0 requires more flash/RAM than exists on those 2 boxes..

Thanks for the answer. That at least explains what the reason is - 'It is not supported' leave it a bit open ended.
I'll wait and see if a 7.x version appears for the 501.

The story has always been that 7.1 will be the first for 501/506 pixen. When it is coming out, is yet to be determined - AFAIK, the talk was always that it was going to be the second half of this year.
