PIX Routing VLAN's

We have a remote office that we would like to isolate with a PIX. Currently we have a trunk between the core located in our building and the core located in their office. All traffic is layer 2 and there is no routing between the buildings, just the trunk link.

Could we do this with a PIX?

We configure the VLAN's so that the system know that VLAN's 55, 56, 57, and 58 live over this trunk. When the PIX saw the VLAN information, it could route out the proper interface?

Where can I find more info on the PIX and its ability to handle VLAN's? Can it actually handle the tagging?

I've attached a very elementary drawing of what I want to accomplish.

thanks,

biz

PIX at the moment doesnot handle layer 2 (transparent firewall), the feature is coming in version 7.x

but you can create multiple vlans on an interface and pix will handle the tagging, but the vlans should be layer 3 vlans. i mean the communiation among the vlans will be performed on layer 3.

thanks
