I'm an instructor at a community college and we're offering our first PIX class in the fall, using the 501. Anyone know of any training materials? I know Cisco has a few books; only one of them has any labs in it. I'd prefer not to have to build the entire class myself. *Ideally*, I'd like to find a course which has Powerpoint presentations, labs,quizzes/tests, and a book; the more of these, the better. Of course we'd pay for it. Anyone know of anything which might be available?

Dave,
Up front, I am not a college instructor. I have done *some* teaching/training and I have a BS degree in Computer Technology from Purdue. That BS degree included some Cisco-based courses. Here is my two cents worth:
I would probably use the Cisco Press book "CCSP Cisco Secure PIX Firewall Advanced" as a starter. It is technically in-depth enough that your students should come away with at least enough knowledege to do basic firewall and VPN configuration. That sounds like what you are looking for in the course. There are plenty of questions in the book which make for good quizzes. Sprinkle in some labs and you have a good test.
At the community college level, you will probably have to teach some subnetting and basic encryption theory in the class as well so I think you will have more than enough material for the class. If there is a down side to the book, it is probably too much material. (Nobody ever said teaching was easy!)
As for a ready-made course outline, you probably won't find exactly what you are looking for. This book should get you about 80% home.
