Pix upgrade Tftp times out

I am upgrading my failover pixs by the instruction in cisco document number 4801. The primary pix is connected only to my laptop which is running a tftp server. Using the copy tftp flash I get a connection timed out error.

The Laptop is connected to the pix via ethernet to internal E1. I can telnet and ping the pix. but I cannot ping the notebook from the pix.

so the pix and the laptop are connected via crossover, right? what is the interface speed and duplex set to?. Ofcourse you will get a connection timeout on TFTP server if you cant ping it.
