PIX ver 7 0 availability

WE have a pix 515 running Ver 7 Fos standalone .

We would like to understand what are the methods/best practices available to test the PIXs availability

1)Snmp traps

2)Mail alerts

3)Snmp polling

4)Icmp polling

We would like to know which of the above would be able to alert us if the

1)PIX crashed

Or the PIX services are unavailable

Snmp poll and a well configured polling server should do what you require.

If the pix should crash, it would be doubtfull snmp-trap or mail alert configured on the pix would work.
