Hi all,
Does a PIX 515E support compression for VPN clients? As far as I remember it is not supported because the device does not have the horsepower?
Thanks!
Jacques

Hello Jacques,
No.. PIX 515E does not support VPN/IP compression... One alternate to ur issue is , compress before encryption !!! ya, before encrypting the packets on the VPN, you can compress it on some other device and then the packets come to PIX for encryption.. this is the only way u can do it..
you can confirm this on the following URL:
http://cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_qanda_item09186a0080148723.shtml
Hope this helps.. all the best.. rate replies if found useful..

Hi Jacques,
Compression is not good since will not add significant BW savings, but will impact alot of sfuff: more processor using, CEF will not be able to HW switch your packets, IPS/IDS systems will have problems monitoring your packets.
Compression is not Cisco's cup of tea anyway.
Please rate if this helped.

Daniel
