Pix xlate timout

Dear All,

We had a problem when we implemented pix 535 over a WAN ( which is a bank network) .Hence its a bank network ,it includes ATM s also. while implementing this we faced problem with ATMs .Later on our CCIE has changed the timeout xlate to 1193:00:00 . From that day its working fine. can any body explain me

The relation between this time out xlate (which is..1193 hours ) and ATMs Technology. r connection persistance .

it doesnt make sense for ATM, but for other applications may be the connections should never suppose to be timeout

But we suffered from ATM Machines, not from other applications. our pix xlate timeout earlier is just 1 hr . at tht time some ATM s used to go down after 1 hr idle time. After changing xlate time out to 1193 hrs.. its working fine. is there any other applications also have the same problem? f
