Hello Trond
thanks for output..
Couple of things
1.the FTP server IP address is 192.168.6.1 as per the initial output. but i didnt see any interface in ASA which is with this IP
so let me know where is this IP belongs to
2. I didnt see any NAT for this IP to public IP
3. Access-list outside is properly configured but it is not applied using access-group command
regards
Harish.

Harish,
Right... My fault. I changed the output before posting, but it is for
interface Vlan12
no forward interface Vlan1
nameif DMZ
security-level 50
ip address 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0
so I forgot to change this to 192.168.6.1....
I thought that I had used the access-group command.
Is this the correct command to use?
ciscoasa(config)# access-group outside_access_in in interface outside

ok seems good..
yes this is the way applying the ACL
and what about the nat ?
there should be a nat like
nat ( DMZ,OUTSIDE) .................
09-27-2012 01:08 PM
show nat gave me these. Section 1 contains most of the things related to the VPN, and since that is working, I am not touching it - i spent quite some time managing to set that up...
Auto NAT Policies (Section 2)
1 (DMZ) to (outside) source static dmz-webserver interface service tcp www www
translate_hits = 0, untranslate_hits = 0
2 (DMZ) to (outside) source static dmz-ftpserver interface service tcp ftp ftp
translate_hits = 0, untranslate_hits = 0
3 (inside) to (outside) source dynamic inside-net interface
translate_hits = 278264, untranslate_hits = 26720
4 (inside) to (outside) source dynamic obj_any interface
translate_hits = 149, untranslate_hits = 35

please do the following and test from outside
no nat (DMZ,outside) static interface service tcp ftp ftp
nat (DMZ,outside) 1 source static dmz-ftpserver interface service tcp ftp ftp

That last one worked out like a charm. So that is the way to do it with www to then.
