Hi Guys,

I have a small douvt regarding PIX 525 running with 8.0(4)28 and the failover status in both the devices is Active/Active.

When i am configuring the failover i issued the below commands

failover lan unit primary

failover lan interface folink Ethernet5

failover key *****

failover interface ip folink 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.1.2

I have configured the lan unit as primary but it still it shows as secondary when i issue sh failover .

#sh failover

Failover Off

Cable status: My side not connected

Failover unit Secondary

As this is in production i just turned off the faiover again...

can i know why it still shows as seconday when i issue the lan unit primary command.....

Note - I didnt connect the failover cable while testing

Regards,

Sandeep

I have not tried to switch things between primary and secondary before but someone from TAC mentioned to me before that once failover was configured, you cannot switch primary and secondary roles.

Hello Sandeep,

Please share the configuration you have on both units, not just related to Failover but interface setup, etc. ( Make sure that when you share them failover is configured {ON})

I will then proceed to provide you the answer
