Remote access VPN can not work with windows' hostname

Hi expert,

I would like to set up a remote access VPN service for my work at home, the basic settings are worked and I can remote to the subnet in my company. However, I can not explore to other hosts by the hostnames. In fact I need to do it because some applications are hostname based not IP based.

Where can I set the DNS, WINS in the remote VPN client profile. In fact, I also need to configure it for my colleagues.

Or, do you have any other suggestions?

Djemba,

You need to configure DNS/WINS under the remote access profile settings, I suggest you configure it under the default group settings; that way they apply to all profiles:-

group-policy DfltGrpPolicy attributes

wins-server value x.x.x.x

dns-server value y.y.y.y

default-domain z

x.x.x.x = WINS Server IP

y.y.y.y = DNS Server IP

z = internal domain-name
