When the Reset-I message appears on the firewall is this the firewall dropping the connection? or was an inside host reseting from the inside?

Hi Lewis,

If the reason is TCP RESET-I, it means that reset was from inside which will of course terminate  the connection but it is not firewall which dropped the connection on its own. Please see the explanation below:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/syslog-guide/syslogs/logmsgs.html#pgfId-6941209

Please look at the message: 302014

and the explanation as well as TCP termination reasons.

Regards,

Kanwal

It means inside host is dropping the connection.

Host behind higher security
