Running ASA software on Firepower 1010

We are purchasing a number of Firepower 1010 and the people that are to manage them are familiar with ASA and ASDM but not so much with Firepower and FTD. The devices will not be running any advanced antimalware features (we buy them without any subscriptions).

Does it make sense that we run ASA software on them instead of Firepower? (I think i read it should be possible)

yes you can re-image with ASA Code, But moving forward cisco may stop ASA code, so it is also worth to Migrate to Firepower and test if you get chance get ready to NGFW.
