Setting UP ASA 5520 for Failover

I have (2) ASA 5520 Firewalls with three Interface.  Port 0 is used for Outside, and Port 1 is used for Inside Network. Is it possible to used Port 2 for both LAN and Stateful firewall configuration. The idea is to create sub-interfaces on Port 2 such as 2.1 for LAN Failover and 2.2 for Stateful Failover.

Is is possible?

Please Advise!

Hi Abbas,

There is no issue in sharing the failover link for stateful. You do not even need to seperate the interfaces with subinterfaces.

something like below.

failover
failover lan unit primary
failover lan interface failover gigabitethernet0/2
failover interface ip failover 192.168.254.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.254.2
failover link failover

Hope this helps!
