We have a 6M broadband pipe from Florida to Georgia and only seeing 300K-400K file transfers.
The route takes about 12 hops.
What is the recommended MTU for WAN links,
The VPN tunnel is showing no fragmentation with 1472MTU
Is this about the best I should expect?
Would the tunnel show pings not being fragmented and still fragmenting the packets?
The public interface is set for a bandwidth of 1.544M, would it make that much difference to change it to 6M?

The bandwidth statement won't affect your throughput unless you are relying on percentage based QoS or rate-limiting. I would start at each edge of the network and work my way towards the wan. Check to make sure there is proper speed and duplex settings on the servers or pcs. Then check to see if you get fast transfers internally, etc. If you still have speed issues on the wan, what type of latency or packet loss are you seeing?
Hope this helps.
