Sourcefire ASA module and internet access

I know the ASA Sourcefire module requires internet access for cloud lookups of URLs, but what if the module is only being used for IPS?  Does the Sourcefire module require internet access when only an IPS license is installed and no URL filtering is being done?

It's only required from the module (or managing FireSIGHT Management Center) to download Vulnerability Database (VDB), Snort Rule and Geolocation updates.

If you don't want those (although you probably do unless you take care to update them manually on a regular basis), it can work fine without Internet access.
