unable to access internet through ASA-5525

Hello,

my network scenario is like this ;

Dhcp is configured in core switch. Core switch is connected to ASA and ASA is connected to the ISP cisco switch . In the ISP switch , the port for internet is configured as DHCP . So I configured the wan port of ASA gig 0/0 as in DHCP setroute mode. When i configured these things and connected the ASA directly to ISP switch , it is showing Internet status up . But i am unable to browse anything , even unable to ping 8.8.8.8.

Attached the running-config for the reference, this is without dhcp setroute configuration. Your immediate support is higly appreciated.

Hi Siddique,

If you are not able to ping 8.8.8.8 from ASA itself then you can check following:

>> Attached configuaration does not have DHCP configured for outside interface

interface GigabitEthernet0/0
nameif outside-network
security-level 0
ip address 10.10.0.2 255.255.255.0<<<<<<<<<<<

>> Check the route and try to ping next hop from ASA.

show route

>> You can also check if the ASA is having correct MAC address for the next hop.

show arp.

>> As the ASA is going to get IP from the ISP switch, so is it going to get a public ip or private IP?

>> If IP recieved is private then check is the upstream device is performing NAT or not.

Thanks,

Rishabh Seth

PS: Rate if it helps and mark answer as correct if it resolves your issue.

Hi Rishabh,

The wan port of asa , gig 0/0 , i configured in dhcp setroute mode. Sorry i coudlnt update the latest backup configuration.,

But still i am facing the issue.

Also please note that the Ip form isp switch is dynamic public ips , which is in dhcp mode.

Hi,

Are you able to ping the next hop from ASA? Can you share the details about the steps that i mentioned in my previous comments.

Also you can try to capture ICMP traffic from ASA.

cap capo interface outside match icmp <asa-ip> 8.8.8.8

to view:

show cap capo detail

To remove capture:

no cap capo

Thanks,

Rishabh Seth
