unable to change pass on the asa

Hi Folks

am not able to change password on the asa running 7.2 code.i dont have ACS in my network..although i issue the command:

username <username> password <password> encrypted privilege 15

what command you are typing exactly?

what error message you get?

Here is the syntax that works for me:

username test password test privilege 15

I Issued the below command:

username password encrypted privilege 15

but the strange is the ASA didnt prompt for username also

Might be Dumb to ask , but :-

1> you need to be in config mode or enable mode.

2> you should have permissions to add/delete/modify accounts on the asa.

as Paul said , you are using the right command.
