Hi,

we are planing to configure a unauthenticated NTP server on the IDS 4240 box.

I have a completed command set for the same as mentioned below.

sensor# configure terminal

sensor(config)# service host

sensor(config-hos)# ntp-option enable

sensor(config-hos-ena)# ntp-option enabled-ntp-unauthenticated

Specify the NTP server IP address: Ex:10.12.62.101
sensor(config-hos-ena)# ntp-server 10.12.62.101

Exit NTP configuration mode:
sensor(config-hos-ena)# exit
sensor(config-hos)# exit
Apply Changes:?[yes]

now i am getting error message like" no server suitable for synchronization found"

We are using Version 7.0(2)E4

Can some one help me configue unauthenticated NTP server .

Your config looks ok to me, it's the same as mine and there's not a lot to it. Are you sure the 4240 can access your NTP server? Does it have a default gateway if needed, is udp 123 open etc. That's a standard *nix NTP error message so there's lots of info out there on possible causes. Also, I've had problems in the past syncing Cisco equipment with MS Windows NTP servers, if that's what you're using, although admittedly these boxes aren't very Cisco-ish.
