Hello all,
My customer has a Cisco ASA 5516-X currently running ASA version 9.5(1) with ASDM version 7.5(1).
Is there an advisable upgrade path that we need to take, for going from 9.5.1 to 9.8.1; or a direct upgrade is possible?
If I am understanding the KB article on Cisco website (link: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/migration/upgrade/upgrade.html#ID-2152-0000000a), one should be able to perform a direct upgrade.
The upgrade is being done to mitigate IKE decryption issues being faced while setting up an IPSec tunnel between this ASA 5516-X and a Palo Alto Networks PA-500 running PANOS 6.1.4.
Any guidance on the upgrade path would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Shreyans

Hi,
As per the upgrade path, you can directly upgrade from 9.5.1 to 9.8.1 without any issues since there are no major changes in the above-mentioned releases
Here is a document for your reference:-

As Dinesh noted.
Also be sure to upgrade your ASDM to the latest version (currently 7.8(1.150)).
