guys the scerario is that we have a 4500 series swicth conected to the firewall (ASA) on swicth we have vlan 100 ip address is X.X.X.2 and on firewall ethernet the address is X.X.X.1 (internal same subnet) on swicth the ip default-gateway is X.X.X.1 (ip of etehrnet of ASA)

the customer has a dedicated DHCP server in other location and they want to enable DHCP on the firewall.... whats is the easiest way to do it.....the firewall is conected to the provider switch and on provider switch i can ping the DHCP server of the client at the other location location.....

Note there are no vlans config on ASA

Bare in mind that the DHCP is on different subnet

Thanks a million guys and hope to get an answer soon

Hi,

Here's all you need to know regarding DHCP configuration on ASA:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa83/configuration/guide/dhcp.html

Let us know if you have a specific question.

Federico.

Thanks for the reply but it doesnt answer my question.....the DHCP server is at data centre on different subnet....so creating a DHCP scope on asa is of no point....secondly the DHCP replay option was good but it clearly states that DHCP has to be connected directly :-(

can you plz help me out

Hi Guroo,

You should read this discussion very carefully and if i am correct you don't have a VPN between sites or do you ? in either case this should give a great insight on dhcprelay when dhcp server is not local.
