We have two VPN Concentrators 3005 and we setup load balancing. After logging in successfully, about 2 minutes, VPN client disconnected me automatically. Then, I login again and I did not have any problems. I am running VPN client, ver. 4.6. How do I fix this disconnection problem? Thanks.

When you connected the second time were you connecting to the same concentrator or did your load balancing connect you to the other concentrator?
Is it possible that the timeout value is configured differently on the two concentrators?

I was reconnected to same concentrator the second time. Where do I check the timeout value? What should the timeout value be? Thanks.

There are several places you would need to look where the timeout can be configured:
- under User Management look in Base Group on the General tab where an idle timeout and a Maximum Connect time can be configuerd. Also on the HWClient tab there is an Idle Timeout which may be a factor in your situation.
- under User Management look in Groups, find the group to which you (or whoever has the issue) belong, and on the General tab there is an Idle Timeout and a Maximum Connect Time. Also on the HWClint tab there is a User Idle Timeout.
- under User Management look in Users, find if any users are configured who may be part of the issue. If so on the General tab there is Idle Timeout and Maximum Connect Time.
- under any of these places on the IPSec tab there is an opportunity to use IKE Keepalive which might also be a factor in your issue.
- there is also the possibility of configuring Access Hours in each of those places but I do not think that your description of the problem sounds like an Access Hours issue.

Rick,
Thanks for your prompt response. I checked those places that you suggested and none seems to fix my problem. The problem is VPN client disconnected immediately after logging in. If I tried to login the second time, it connected without any problems. It seems to disconnect intermittently. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks.

These symptoms are a puzzle to me: first connection disconnects immediately and the subsequent connection succeeds. Especially if both connections are to the same concentrator (I recently saw something a bit like this where the client was connecting to one concentrator, disconnectung, and connecting to a backup concentrator where it was ok.)
I would suggest enabling logging in the VPN client and see what (if anything) that shows you.

Rick,
Thanks for your input. This is what I found out. By changing the timeout value under User Management, it fixes the problem. So, go to User Management, Groups, select the group that the user belongs to. Then, select Authentication Servers. Hightlight the server. Then, select Modify. Then, change the Timeout value from 1 to 4. Thanks.
