Windows media server behind a Pix firewall

Hi,

we are trying to setup a windows media 9 server (windows 2003) behind a pix

firewall. We first started by opening the tcp and udp ports by Microsoft

documentation ie:

tcp port 1755

tcp port 554

udp port 1755

udp port 5005

The clients comming from the internet can connect to the server, buffer the

content and then they always keep on rebuffering/disconnecting.

To try to isolate the problem, we even used

access_list permit ip any any on both inside and outside interfaces but the

problem was the same so I guess the problem we experience has nothing to do

with access-list

We are using nat 0, fixup 554 and default timeout values

To make sure the server is not in cause here, we temporarely put the server

facing the internet directly (traffic not going thru the pix...) and everything

was working fine.

To further diagnose the problem, we configured the server so it supports http streaming. Everytime we connect using mms, it always fall back at http like if mms and rtsp were not a viable solution

Is there something special to configure to make sure everything will work fine

?

We've been working on this for a couple of days already trying to find the

solution in forums and documentations...

what is the version you are running? Can you use static instead of NAT0? try to use a different version of PIX. possibly 6.3.4.

try to disable/enable fixups for h323. get syslog messages and see what it says
