How do I go about getting a  Running Activation Key ?

My WS-SVC-FWM-1-K9 is missing the  Running Activation Key, how do I go about obtaining a  Running Activation Key ?

Mine is fine and has the same running activation key.   What is the result of the command "sh activation"?  I believe if you get the response of  "The Running Activation Key is not set, using default settings:" or "The flash activation key is the SAME as the running key." then it should be fine.

Hi Gary,

Just to clarify, the all 0s key is the default activation key for the FWSM. This just means that you have the base feature set and is perfectly normal if you didn't purchase a license for additional security contexts.

If you did purchase a license, you should have a received a PAK number. You would need to enter this PAK into www.cisco.com/go/license along with your FWSM's serial number. This will generate an activation key that can be entered into the FWSM.

Problem has been sorted out.   Email Cisco licensing@cisco.com and got the  Activation Key within 5 mins
