Hello,
I've got a used WS-SVC-FWM-1-K9 on the way and I'd like to standardize it to the Firewall Module Software Version 4.0. I'm not positive if the current software on it is newer or older than Version 4.0. Is this possible to perform or is the Software as is on these modules? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Nope you can upgarde or downgrade the FWSM just as you do on ASA or PIX, to check the software running on it, do:
show module
on your switch, it will get you the IOS.
Follow these docs for upgrade procedures:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/fwsm/fwsm32/configuration/guide/swcnfg_f.html
Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Varun
