Core issue
Devices are discovered by polling Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP).
For the device to be discovered by the application, it needs to have CDP enabled.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, connect to the device and verify that CDP is enabled, as shown in this example:

ponch(config)#run cdp
ponch#show cdp
Global CDP information:
Sending CDP packets every 60 seconds
Sending a holdtime value of 180 seconds
Sending CDPv2 advertisements is enabled
